There is a girl named Hilary. She is completely against Jews. She hates them with a passion. She is mean to them and pushes them around like they're trash... Until the day she gets into an accident. All she remembers is the accident, then the whole world spinning. She then noticed she wasnt herself anymore. She was a completely different person. She was a Jew. She had a whole new life she didn't know. New friends, parents, school, and even a new home. She was called Chana. Chana/Hilary is so confused. She didn't know what happened. She started to see the struggles Jews had to go through. She was now the one being pushed around and that totally started to change her thought of Jewish people.

Summary
She's spinning again... She is now back to being Hilary. She then went to a ceremony. A girl is becoming a part of the neo-Nazi gang. They all were yelling, "Heil, Hitler", "We hate Jews", and "Let the Jews die". They party to welcome the new member. After that she goes home, but unfortunatly starts spinning again. She's back to being Chana. In the life of Chana, her and her family were mourning over the loss of her father. During the mourn, her brother ran in with bad news saying they need to leave their house and go into hiding. The family didn't want to leave so the brother and one of his friends left on their journey. Within a couple of days, her brother came through the door with a sad, sad face. After him came the parents of his friend. The Nazis killed his friend while Chana's brother sat in the bushes and weeped. Chana ran at her brother when he came out of his room and hit him. She was angry. Chana yelled at him and said, "Why would you tell us to leave. You went out and almost got killed. You dissrupt our mouning for dad with all that bad news!" Chana was interrupted by a knock at the door as her brother whispered, "It's the Nazis. I warned you."

So her family was all saying good bye to her sister. Then there was Hilary. She was mourning about how awful her mother treated her. She left her home alone at age 5. With hardly any food. Almost died. Hilary's mother always tried to get Hilary to follow God. She did for a while. But her mother over did it. She was sick of the obsession so she then became a part of the neo-Nazi gang.

Summary
Chana and her whole family were moved. They all had to walk a long, long way to a seperate town made for all Jews. That divided the Jews from everyone else. They were assigned a new house.... not a good one. When Chana and her family opened the door to their new house, they all gasped. There was rats everywere and the walls were really moldy. The ceiling was swooping inward, looking as if it was about to collapse. Each member of the family got assigned a chore to pick up the place but Chana was told to walk around and see if they could find the families friends. On her walk, she got called up by old family friends and they cleaned her up and talked to her. They put her in a good mood and gave her food. It was a very loving family and they wanted to make the best of everything that was happening, not mourn over it.

Summary
Chana and her family recieved two more people to live in their house. There is a man and his wife. The man was very greedy. Chana's family had already decided that each family living there gets only one cot. Most likely for the elder in that family. That man did not like that idea; for he wanted two cots. One for him and one for his wife, but rules were rules. He only got one. During the night, Chana could not fall asleep. She peeked over by the man and saw he was rolling around in his cot. It startled her, but she just secretly watched him. He soon got on his feet and headed for the kitchen. Chana could not believe what was happening! No wonder why they were missing food. He has been stealing it! She stood up and yelled, "You chozzer!" Everyone woke up and saw what was happening. Chana's mom stood up and firmly stated, "How dare you!" The man collapsed as if he had no more bones in his body. He had been sleep walking the whole time! So loosing all that food he stole wasn't that heart breaking because Chana's little sister kept randomly bringing home food insisting that people randomly gave it to her. Chana, not believing her story, secretly followed her one day. Her sister was digging food up in the trash pile along with some of her friends to keep their families fed. :)

Summary
Chana's family is stuggling and stuggling. The kids no longer go to school because they sneak off to do secret work for people to earn food for their starving family. Chana's grandma has a talk with her and tells her to relax and that she has to have faith. Faith that they will make it out okay. Then there is Hilary. She is in the hospital from a motorcycle accident. The boy who crashed with her, came to visit her but got into a big fight with Hilary's mother. She said it was all his fault but really it was an accident. Hilary was listening to all this commotion then her world started spinning and spinning. It's back to being Chana.

Summary
Chana's life is not going well. She keeps losing her loved ones. Now, Mrs. Kengriel, her roomate, committed suiside. After finding out about that tragedy she heard that the Nazis are coming to take all the elders and young children. That means her little sister Anya. She loves her so much. She would never want to loose her. In their house, another roomate is willing to go instead of her. That way she can see her husband. They don't know if the should allow that lady to go because that might mean death. So instead they will be hiding in the attic of some old building so no one is taken away.

Hilary is still in the hospital. She can hear everything people are saying around her. She wants to say something, anything, but can't. She is getting Chana's thoughts. I don't know how but they have some sort of connection. Chana's mother and sister were taken by the guards. She just doesn't understand. She cries so much, but she has Bubbe there to comfort her. Chana's brother found a way to set them free. He knows alot of people to help them. Except that hes not going. Chana and Bubbe got fake IDs and got to eat good food and sleep in a warm house. But now it is time to move on with the plan. They got on a train. It was all going well untill someone, an old classmate of Chana's, came to her and pointed, "I know you!"

The guards heard that girl say she knew Bubbe and Chana so they sent them away to be questioned. They were seperated and told that one another told the truth about their identity. But neither of them would actually break. Soon enought they were both led to a dark room and hugged eachother. There was 3 other people with them and they were fed good. They were taken to diferent places. The new place they were taken to, they kind of liked. They were fed on a regular basis and let outside to excersize. They got comfy beds. Chana wants to stay there (not that she has a choice).

Summary
Chana and Bubbe are having an okay time working in the kitchen. But of coarse when all seems well, it has to go bad again. They were taken to Aushwitz. They were shaved, stripped, showered, and even got a tattoo of a number on their arm. It was horrible. Now they started the hard work. They got wipped and hit and abused. They are being tortured.

Summary
Hilary is not doing too well. She's dying. And Chana isn't either. She got sick in the concentration camp. During roll call she threw up and the quards made her kneel right in her own puke. Chana made it through the aganizing hours just sitting there then got out to work. Someone told her that Bubbe was working on the inside now and wouldn't see her as much anymore. Chana was upset but met a 12 year old who wanted her to be her "mother". She agreed. Chana looked up at a nonJew with a package. Something was leeking out of the edge and so she secretly put her bowl under to get whatever it was. She licked her finger and tasted the extrodinary taste of sugar! Vocab

Summary
Chana had role call again and this time they were telling people to go to the left or right. All of Chana's friends and "family" went to the right. As well as she did. The right ended up living while the left were gassed. She and everyone were now sent to work. This time she had to dig trenches. Her "daughter", Matel, wasn't strong enough to dig a big tench so Chana had to help her. She ended getting whipped for digging Matel's hole but made a bet with the Nazi. She said that her group would make the biggest trenches and if they did, then they would live. If they wernt the biggest then they were to be gassed. Unfortunatly their trenches wernt the biggest but the Kapos decided not to kill them for they had done good work. Vocab

Chana and Matel are making their way through the concentration camp. Although Matel is getting thinner and has lost many toes from frostbite. Chana snuck out to see Bubba and gave her a pep talk to lift her spirit up. Chana is acting like a good mother to Matel as they struggle for their lives in Aushwitz. Vocab

4/27/11 Summary
Chana is playing violin now for the soldiers. She loves playing violin, but not for them. She does get to see Bubbe every Sunday now and they exchange little bits of information. Bubbe even gets Chana some pills. Pills wernt curing Chana so she wanted to go to the hospital but they are now making selections daily so Bubbe said she would be better if she didn't go. Chana was getting sicker and sicker. Finally one day when she was playing the violin, she all of a sudden fell and woke up in bed and noticed some girl stole her violin. She was pretty upset at first but then thought about the other bad things and noticed she need not to worry about a little violin. One day they heard and saw planes over head. They were the Allies. Germans were frantically killing as many Jews as possible. Chana was seperated from Bubbe because every one who could walk was told to go outside but Chana was very ill and couldn't stand. She then woke up looking at a Russian man after she had had a concusion. Vocab

Hilary and Chana have a conection. I knew they did. Chana discovered she has Bubbe's gift. She saved Hilary's life. Hilary was in a coma and while she was she was pretty much living Chana's life with her. She was a part of the Holocaust. Chana told her to spread the word about the Holocaust. Then, Hilary knew where that boy Simon was locked in the locker by Brad and was saved. Hilary saved his life.She's recovering from her coma and her mother and her have a better relationship now. Hilary was getting in her wheel chair about to leave when a woman stood in the doorway. She asked Hilary if she was Hilary Burke. She nodded and said that she was Nadzia Berg.
